Conex

OK Guys,
Dewayne wanted me to ask how you would like your conexs aranged. They will also need to be aranged in an orderly maner, & Dewayne said that we can move them with his crane.
Dewayne also said that once a layout is agreed to we could isnulate the outsides with some of the big styrofoam blocks & he would shotcreat them. All it will cost the conex owners is some time & the cost of the shotcreat. Shotcreat runs $100 a yard.
We could make the conexs look like a nice Fort or building, that would be easy to heat or cool.
So what do you think?

Re: Conex

Actually, that sounds REALLY cool.

Granted, I'd much rather see the time with the Shotcrete truck being spent on field structures.

$100 a yard is kind of steep, though (I'm assuming this is talking a square yard of shotcrete sprayed, right?)

Re: Conex

Snipes,

The CONEXs are arranged in a neat, tight circle right now that is close to electricity and water, as well as the washrooms and showers, and are up on rail tie foundations. Is there any reason we would want to move them from their current placement?

I have no desire to shotcrete my can (doing so could make future movement and transport difficult).

Re: Conex

I will also opt out of the Shotcrete idea.

We will enventually need to move/sell them. It's also quite expensive.

A wall of shotcrete around our camp rather then a fence might be something to look into though.

Re: Conex

I also like the arrangement we had, with the cans in rows.

As for shotcrete, considering 1 wall is roughly 17¾ yards, we're talking $1,800 for each 8x20 side (6.6 yards x 2.6 yards). I too will have to pass on the shotcrete.

Actualt a yard of shotcreet is a 3'x3' square of the wet shotcreet before it is sprayed onto the wall.
If I remember right it took 4 yards to shoot the new Allied talk.

I understand,
I will be up at the field the first weekend in Augest for a Bridge to far. I will talk to Dewayne some more then & get back with you.

Re: Conex

I realize my oppinion is not really a factor here, however for the commoner level feedback, i really liked the location and layout of Airborne Alley, and the less restrictions on air flow, the better...

Also our can has excellent real estate, of which i would be disapointed to see change...

(Cause the Ghetto will always guard the entrance....)

Re: Conex

hi guys maybe a stupid idea but what if all containers are stacked against each other at the long sides, then only the most outer containers have a wall to insulate on the sides. Then you only have to insulate the top and backs of all the rest of the containers. This saves money! You can also make a wall by this and let those Fallshimjagers walk around our terrain instead of thou it. I notised a few CEF really didnt want them on our terf. And its easier to guard at night! Just an idea guys.

Frankly - I prefer the current set-up. Further, I do not want somebody moving them with all the kit we have in them, much of which is both heavy and breakable. We just got the things up and running - I do not want our members to come back to find broken bunk beds, smashed AC units, and toppled fridges.

Leave em as they are.

Re: Conex

Because of the kit inside is the reason I would also say to leave them as is. In particular i know Tac had the nicest set up and i can just imagine his dresser upside down and inside out if they do move them.

Re: Conex

Has anymore details came up about this? I personally would not be against the shockcrete if we had a better idea what it was going to come to. I do want my Conex to stay in the Can scot area with the door to the North like it was. I like the idea of insulating it though. It is really hot in there and will be really hard to cool.
