Marching Band Recruitment

I have been working on a posting to be presented to the various universities and marching band groups here in Winnipeg, in order to solicit interest in joining the Commonwealth Marching Band at D-Day 2010.

It outlines various points about D-day and offers musicians free equipment use for bringing and playing their instrument.

I will attempt to upload it as a downloadable file or post it in it’s entirety. If you can, please feel free to print and post at your local university campus’s events/opportunities board, and at any other site that you see fit.

Some of the source material for the posting originates from postings made by Tac-One and Joel, and therefore credit is due to them.

COMMONWEALTH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE

IS RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS FOR:

MILITARY MARCHING BAND

The Commonwealth Expeditionary Force is looking for volunteers for our Military Marching Band! We are an outgoing group who attend the annual D-Day event in Oklahoma, which is the largest paintball event in North America. This event is held in June at the DDAY Adventure Park in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. The park is located in the northeast corner of the state, close to the Missouri border. This week long event consists of several days of camping, parade detail, recreational paintball events, and other exciting opportunities! We are looking for volunteers who are interested in attending this event and who are willing to bring and play their instruments in: parade detail, at a USO style show, and various national anthems. There will be no try-outs, all are welcome! We are also strongly looking for a Drum Major with experience calling band commands, and we are looking for a Band Director (experience as a Band Teacher is an asset.)

For attending and participating in this event, all equipment in order to play in the paintball events will be provided on loan FREE of charge for your use at the entire event!
All are welcome! There is no limit to positions available!

DUTIES

The participants will be provided sheet music ahead of time (purchased for you) for practice. Attendance of the event and participation in various marching band activities will enable eligibility for free use of all required paintball equipment. Participants will be required to transport and use their instrument at the event.

TRANSPORTATION / ACCOMODATION

The Commonwealth Expeditionary Force operates convoys to bring players to Oklahoma D-Day. By pooling resources, arranging common transport, and using well-tested routes we can reduce the cost of travel to the individual player. We also operate a common Dining Facility (DFAC) that serves up two meals a day all week to anybody that wants to "buy-in", reducing food costs for the individual player.

You will be well equipped to enjoy the biggest week long paintball festival in the world when you enlist in the Commonwealth Expeditionary Force! Join various units in a homage game with 4000 players, 20 + paintball tanks, 700 acres of villages, trenches, hills, valleys, forests, and fields. This is the next big step in intense paintball action. You will meet, play, and march with members from various countries and continents!

Are there still plans to do a band in 2011? If so, I can pass this recruitment add along. I used to play the trombone and might be able to brush up on it some and play intermediate level music, and I know many people in the band at school (Texas Tech University), a few of which enjoy paintball.
